Start of Something New

No, I'm not going to start singing from High School Musical (in case you didn't know, Start of Something New is one of their songs). However, I will tell you of a new blog not just about me, but all my furry and scaly Sleight pet friends. It's an art blog with pet comics called http://www.hardtoreadpetcomics.blogspot.com/ and I hope to see some comments there. Hope to see you there! Now, back to business. If this had another title, it would be called The Southern Belle. Why? Because I did (I mean, was forced to) do some modeling with Stacey and boy, do I look... well... just see for yourself.

What do you think? Do I look pretty in pink?

I hope I look smart.

I guess that's it for now. Later.

A Special Picture for a Special Sister

This picture is dedicated to my owner's sister, Alicia, so she knows that she wants her to feel better. She and I also say hi to her and mom who's with her. I bet that drawing is based off of me... or a dog she found on google... Anyway, she drew it herself and hopes it is okay to say what's said in it. Here it is. Oh and pay no attention to the once-scribbled drawing faded on it. :)

The 12 Months of the Year

Guess what? It's that time of year again to join hand in hand while singing one last carol to start up 2008, even though New Year's was a few days ago. Ohhhhhhh...

On the 1st Month of the Year, something happened to me:

We have a new evil kitty!

Yes, she's evil, but she stole Stacey's heart Christmas of 2006. January was the time that the kitten was still a bit hostile to me when I got too close. However, we're pretty much pals now, but sometimes I still do enjoy chasing that mischief-maker out in the backyard. She definitely does NOT have Kitka's popular vote, though.

On the 2nd Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Time for yummy heart-shaped candy!
It's not so much important, but with Valentines Day going on, candy was oh so popular around the house. I can still remember those jelly cherry sugar hearts tingling my tongue.

On the 3rd Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Emma gets presents, but what about me?
Emma's now 7 years old, only 1 year away from being baptized into the church. Looks like she's getting her haul of presents and a delicious birthday cake which I can't have. Boo...

On the 4th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Bye, Bye Fuzzy...
That little hamster, Cheesecake, Stacey's smallest pet, at 2-and-a-half years-old, died this year in April. Even though the span was average, it was still unexpected and took its toll on the Sleight girls. It's sad that I won't be seeing that little guy's whiskers twitch, anymore...
On the 5th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Another year for Stacey!
Yep, that animal-loving artist is finally 14 and in the miamaid class, now. She was sure excited when she got that spiffy MP3 Player for her birthday. When spring had sprung, it was out to the backyard with her and that Sansa!

On the 6th Month of the Year, something happened to me:
Where is that older kitty?
Kitka made a shocking disappearance from the neighborhood bringing the family into panic-mode. With 15 years on her shoulders, they were afraid that that cat was toast. Suddenly, a miracle happened. If it wasn't for Stacey's final attempt to find the Russian Blue using fliers, we wouldn't have gotten that call from that nice family that they had Kitka! It turns out that a moving family had found her on Canyon Street with no collar, assuming she was a stray, and took her with them to their home near Lexington and the Bombing Range Streets. The good thing was that they were willing to let her come back with us since they already had 2 kitties. Though she did hate riding back home in the car...

On the 7th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Happy Birthday to Me!
Yay, it's time for my terrible twos'! Stacey was sure excited since my birthday is on the same day as her older brother, Steven and Grandpa Tibbitts' birthdays were. We sang the birthday song and blew out the candles on my animal bi-product flavored hunk of meat! Good thing we got the food before this year's tragic pet food recall which killed millions of pets... :(

On the 8th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Why go on vacation without me?!
Well, the Sleight Clan is out in Utah vacationing with other family members, so me, Allie, Kitka, and the bettas are stuck at home. Fortunately, we got Jake's, the furry red golden, owners, the Nelson's, to come pet-sitting us. So things were still fun. At least they got to go on vacation before some of the family returned to school.

On the 9th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

2 Years in a Place that's Happy...
Before I was in the house, the former dog, Bo the Beagle, died September 30, 2 years ago. His death was mourned, but not dwelled on, for Bo will have already found paradise and never know pain again. Maybe if I had known him, we could've eaten delicious trash together...

On the 10th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Things are getting Halloweeny!
Break out the candy and sew the costumes, it's time for Halloween! This year I felt a bit more connected to Emma and Stacey when they dressed up like close brethren of mine: a poodle and a wolf!

On the 11th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

A Bite of Juicy Turkey!
Thanksgiving means feasting and feasting means leftovers! It's like dog heaven when I eat Mom's delectable homemade rolls along with a slice of turkey smothered in gravy.

On the 12th Month of the Year, something happened to me:

Break out the Ol' Christmas Tree!!

Finally the season of Christmas! Alicia and Brian came this year and boy did I get my hair in their business, literally! At least my hair on their luggage will give them something to remember me by.

Well, that's all of 2007 for the Sleight Pets. We hope that you had a great year and have more great years to come. Hurrah for 2008!

Dog eat Cat Treats World

I can't believe you still think I just like Beggin' Strips! Actually, maybe you're not thinking that at all. Well, today, I saw Stacey holding some Pounce brand seafood medley cat treats and boy are those good! They almost beat bread! ALMOST... Anyway, I just love em' so much that I'll chase Stacey around the whole house! Well, gotta go, those treats won't eat themselves!

Summer Summary

Hey all you people! I know I haven't been very good at making posts, but I'm back to sum up what happened this summer.

Well, I had my 2nd b-day along with my owner's brother Steven, and Grandpa Tibbitts. They got me a cake made of moist dog food (questionable) and sang the happy birthday song to me. Thank goodness they didn't sing seminary style or my ears would be buzzing! Mom, Stacey, and Rachel explored the life of a pioneer and nearly died walking for miles and miles. And the worst part is, THEY DIDN'T TAKE ME!! And I'm like the best walker there ish!

That old drifter Kitka, she had a pretty nasty wound on the back of her left thigh. She was getting thinner, weaker and ickier each day, that we thought this was the end for the old girl, but then Stacey and Mom took her to the vet and they gave her antibiotics to make her feel better, and boy, does she look good. By the way, the only cut her front toes since she was screaming like she entered the bad place or something, and guess what? The vet called later on and asked if they could weigh her! Can't a girl keep quiet about their mass and weight?! Oh well, they also said that she has healthy blood pressure, heartbeat and kidneys so I think she's got a while before she turns in her ninth life!

Well, Rachel got her license and is on the road more, so is Stacey since she's like her co-pilot. The family left for one final vacation to see their out of home family like Steven, Meredith, Gabriella, Brian, Alicia, Grandma Sleight, and the Tibbitts. I wish I could've gone, but I was in good hands when Stacey called our neighbors', the Nelson family, to come and make sure I didn't destroy the home. I could've if I had apposable thumbs to drive a car or lawn mower or somethin'. Finally, the Nelsons called us saying that they needed someone to babysit Jake for a few days. Stacey figured I could take him, so he came over and spent a few nights with us. He's a rebel, I tell you!

Well, now summer has ended and Stacey, Emma, and Rachel are back at school for awhile until Thanksgiving and Winter Break. Oh baby! I can't wait for Mom's rolls and turkey! I wonder what this next one's name is, last year's was Roland, so maybe something like Michael, or Dan, or Frank. Here's me in the snow last year. As you can see, Washington usually only gets the powder puff stuff.

I can't wait to get back into posting, talk to you all soon!

Remembering a Friend...

Today is a special day, well it was back when he was around. Yes, it's our former beagle's, Bo Sleight, 10th Birthday today. It seems it was not long ago since Alicia and Dad brought home the bundle of joy to our Floridan Home. He was so adorable as a teeny little puppy, even though I, Stacey (Not Belle), was only 4 when we got him. When it was time to move, Bo came with us! Well, to Washington at the most, he was put in cargo on an airplane. Bo always had and will always have a big place in our hearts. Bo died 2 years ago of a cancerous lung fungus. Sometimes I still think I can see him laying under our backyard parasol enjoying the shade. Til' we meet again, Bo Sleight... That's all for today. The summer means more posts every week! See you soon!
